Excel Shift Function

The Excel shift function is a great Excel formula with unique capabilities.

Still, Excel's shift function gets little attention from Excel users and is overshadowed by its more glamorous cousins: the search functions. Why is this?

The purpose of this video is to explore this issue, shed light on the capabilities of the feature, and inspire you to use it in your work.

This video only shows a small part of what this function is capable of.

But this already gives you an idea of how this feature can work.

First, why does the Excel shift function get little recognition? We think there is a problem with the function name.

The role of other functions, on the other hand, is easily understood by their names.

For example, take VLOOKUP, whose role is to look up data from a table.

Perhaps this explains why VLOOKUP is so popular with Excel users.

Shift, on the other hand, sounds rather obscure.

Very few people intuitively realize that the name of the position is derived from the ability to control position; In other words :

to set a anchor point and 'shift' or 'move' a certain number of rows/columns from that point, then a value from a cell return, or perform an operation on a range of cells.

The first function is very useful; the second is unique to compensate and, when combined with other features, creates great dynamic functionality.

In another video the shift function is used along with a selection list.

I therefore also recommend watching this video if you understand the shift function better.

Best of luck!
