How to Export a Discogs Collection to Excel File

In this video I will mainly explain how to export your collection on the Discogs website.

In the further series, you will also learn how to use it further in Excel or what the possibilities can be.

It's mainly about how to export the collection on your Discogs account and what the first standard steps are to achieve this.

How do we proceed?

It is recommended that you download the working file first so that you can follow more closely in this video and this will also give you some advantages.

The Discogs and Excel workbook for this series can be found HERE

In the 1st work file, click on the Discogs logo.

This is also a bit more convenient and you immediately go to the correct export location on the website.

Of course you can always enter the website manually in your browser (www.discogs.com).

After you are logged in, go to export.

The next step is to select what you want to export.

And then press download button.

If the download button is not immediately visible, press the refresh button.

Depending on which browser you use, it will usually be found on the left side of the web address.

  1. Select where you want to save the file. Sometimes this is already saved by default in the download folder with certain browsers, but it is also possible that you have to indicate where you want to save this. It all depends on which browser you use. In this one I work with Firefox. This file will be saved as a zip file

  2. Now go to the specified location where you saved the zip file. This zip file contains the .csv Excel file.

  3. Open the Excel file.

  4. You will get the message that this file needs to be saved. This is necessary to be able to perform operations in Excel the way you want and also to prevent loss of setup afterwards.

  5. Save this as an Excel standard format (.XLSX).

With older Excel versions you will only be able to save this as an .XLS format.

From now on you can start working in the Excel file.

Best of luck!
