Excel date display

If you enter a date in Excel, it will be displayed as a numeric format.

But what if you want a simple way to display the day name in another cell?

In the file we use in the video, we are going to enter a date and display the weekday name below this cell.

Download the working file

How do we get started:

1) We enter the date in the first cell (dd/mm/yyyy)

2) In the 2nd cell we are going to make a reference to the 1st cell. We do this by using the equals sign ( = ). Then we select the 1st cell and press enter.

You will see that the numeric date is displayed as in the 1st cell.

3) We now select the 2nd cell and right click and select cell properties.

4) Now let's go to custom views.

5) At type, we press 4x d (dddd)

6) Press ok or enter You will see that from now on the date will be displayed as the day name.

Keep practicing and good luck!
